C. Allen Goetsch, M.D.
Dr. Goetsch was born in San Francisco, California. He is a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. Dr. Goetsch received his masters degree in Nutritional Science at the University of California, on the Berkeley Campus. He received his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, with distinction in research. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of California in San Francisco. He is the recipient of the Joseph Goldberger Scholarship award in clinical nutrition. Dr. Goetsch enjoyed a solo practice in California for approximately five years and then decided to move to Huntsville in 1992. He has brought special expertise to our group in the area of laser applications to endoscopy.
Dr. Goetsch is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine. He is a member of the American Federation for Clinical Research, the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the Southern Medical Association. His research was supported by the W.C. Pew Fund, the National Institutes of Health Training Grant AM-07007, and a general research support grant of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Goetsch enjoys cooking and one of his specialties is roasting whole pigs. He also enjoys outdoor activities including boating, fishing and hiking with his three beautiful children.
